Holidays!

The work schedule of Gijsbert was in our favor this year; Many days off around the holidays. Actually a kind of Christmas holidays. Floris and the rest of the pack were of course did like this a lot, because the boss at home means that the car is in front of the house. And they know that the chances are big that they will go on a trip.

But Christmas holidays also means being a little lazy and somewhat a “couch potato.” And that does certainly not fall on deaf ears. It often happens that the couch is already occupied by a couple Drenths before we can drop on it. Fortunately, they understand that if they move a little, we can sit on the couch too and no one really needs to stand up. Incidentally Floris is really a “couch potato champion”. He can, as a real adolescent, be sprawled on the couch. With a meter Drent on the couch there is no room for any other.

During the holidays there is also time for fun events. Not only nice for our contacts but also for the canine contacts. And then it is so cozy and exciting as Floris is meeting his foster brother Flynn. Not a real foster-brother of course, because Flynn has a super cute pack of his own. But he’s still family because he is a son of Geoff and Eva. From the first eye contact Flynn and Floris had a click. The garden was instantly the scene of a romp. This was continued in the living room. Fortunately Flynn’s owners had foresight. They had already send off the Christmas tree. Wisely, otherwise two adolescent Drenths would take care of some for flying balls. What energy these teenagers have!

And then the New Year’s Eve … Our pack is fairly “blast proof”. But animals and fireworks will never be a good combination. Floris first acquaintance with fireworks. He’s still not afraid and was just curious to know what is happening outside. Because we keep it that way, we go during NYE ever to places where there is little firework. We had understood that it always is very quiet with fireworks in the residence of granny Nienke’s pack. You probably guessed where we have been this year .. Indeed!

New Year’s Eve celebration with five adults and a whopping 11 Drenths. What a party! For us this year no New Year’s comedy shows or game shows on television. So much Drenths are a game show in itself. Our big puppy had not forgotten his encounter with the little puppy. While the rest of the pack lay down on the couch or was sleeping on that couch, big and small pup went playing while entering the new year.

On behalf of the whole pack of Van Rubensdael we wish you a beautiful and healthy 2017!
